Aladino Cameroon Reserva Toro

If you’ve been around Cameroon wrappers a while, the Aladino Cameroon Reserva Toro is worth a closer look. Every leaf in this cigar — wrapper, binder, filler — comes from one seed variety grown on one farm in Honduras. That’s the whole point of the Reserva. JRE Tobacco Co. rolled the first run in June 2024, and Cigar Dojo had it at No. 13 on their Cigar of the Year list the same year.

  • Size: 6 × 52 Toro · Wrapper: Cameroon-seed, grown in Honduras
  • Body: Medium · Smoke time: about 75–90 minutes
  • Good for: Cameroon fans, or anyone who liked the regular Aladino Cameroon and wants the fuller take

Where it comes from

Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo run JRE the old-fashioned way: they grow the leaf, ferment it, roll it, and ship it. The family’s long known for Authentic Corojo, the Honduran seed they’ve worked for decades. Before JRE, they owned Camacho — that’s where the Camacho Select showed up in 2006 with an African Cameroon wrapper over Honduran filler.

After Camacho, they started growing Cameroon-seed tobacco on their own ground in the Jamastran Valley. The Aladino Cameroon line landed in 2020 with that Cameroon-seed wrapper, but still used Corojo for binder and filler. The Reserva finishes what they started: every component is Cameroon-seed from the JRE farm.

The blend

Wrapper, binder, filler — all Cameroon-seed from Honduras. No Nicaraguan leaf, no Dominican filler, no African wrapper. It’s a Honduran puro built on one seed, and as far as we can tell JRE is the only company that has actually done it.

One size only: a 6 × 52 Toro, boxed in 12s. Rolled at Fábrica de Puros Aladino at Las Lomas Jamastran, same shop as every other Aladino.

How it smokes

Halfwheel’s Patrick Lagreid smoked three for his review and caught orange peel and cereal dust on the foot, with a buttered dinner roll on the cold draw. The wrapper feels a little waxy and parchment-like — not oily, just enough grip.

Once it’s going, most people get cedar and natural sweetness first, then red pepper on the retrohale. Cigar Dojo called the open a dry, spicy-sweet texture that settles into something almost suede-like. Midway you get honey and oatmeal. The last third puts on a little more weight — roasted almond, a bit more earth — but it stays medium for most smokers.

Neptune’s community notes line up with that: sweet, spicy, creamy, even burn, solid construction. One regular mentioned the blend has gotten better month by month since it launched, with the flavors getting brighter over time.

Why we carry it

Production is limited. JRE brought it back for 2025 at about $23 a stick, and they won’t say how many boxes they’re making. On our shelf it sits next to the regular Aladino Cameroon — same Cameroon-seed wrapper, but the standard blend still uses Corojo binder and filler for a few bucks less. If you already like that one, the Reserva is the version where the Eiroas went all-in on one seed from start to finish.
